In this post, we don’t get right away into the solutions, but steps that we follow at GoSchedule internally helps us to work from remote, pushing our limits to take regular updates, talking to our customers, of-course this Blog post and every process got evolved after making series of mistakes, misunderstandings and inspiration from Zapier building it’s successful foundation by remote work for past two year journey at GoSchedule.
#1 Automate Tasks
Automate jobs that are being done every day that doesn’t require human touch such as shipping server & client updates, Lead capturing from demo forms, Follow-up emails on feedback, Testing code that creates Git Issues, scheduling client calls and even more. We learned in a hard way that these are the things that can affect team productivity and customer services gradually that makes our team procrastinate to analyze, build things what customer needs.
#2 Use Group Calendar
It’s really cool to list out the tasks and to-do collection in Trello Board or notebook with your fellow peoples but it doesn’t provide your overview of the task across the calendar date and time which has a more natural and effective way of managing your work. We at GoSchedule eat our own dog food by adding the task to the services and track it without shared group calendar So that our interns can pick up the task easier and Team lead has more control over multiple teams work and progress.
We’ve built the GoSchedule system that can be either leveraged internally to track task/services or publicly to accept appointments, bookings from the customers for the specific task or service with our intuitive plugins.
Moreover, Calendar provides you 3 Dimensional overview regarding the Staff, Time, and Task in a single view where you can track by filtering out the free time, working time and holidays to plan even in a better way that works for any organization or events.
#3 Schedule & Forget
Here at GoSchedule, We schedule the task and forget it such as sending out marketing campaigns, shipping application updates, Collecting payments from our customers, generating reports of our sales from Stripe/PayPal, generating signup reports, reporting error stacktrace to developers weekly.
These jobs work for us since we’ve built in-house Job Scheduler that can track our task from the schedule and notify us in different ways and execute functions similar to AWS Lamda and We’re planning to make it available for our customers as API soon by the end of the year.
So, these are the lessons we learned in our past couple of years to build a successful framework or strategy that will help us to serve our customers by building solutions in our long-term journey.
